Yes, the man they call 'Aker' has forthright views on a range of subjects but he's what you would call a doer who can relay that wisdom, in a couple of languages. Watch... | | Q&A with Greg Oakford Golf Victoria Marketing and Communications Manager chats about the recent launch of golf podcast Inside The Ropes. | | What was the motivation for this collaborative initiative between Golf Victoria, Golf Australia, RSN 927 and the state bodies around the country? To bring more golf to everyone in Victoria, Australia and the rest of the world (with an Australian focus of course). Working with all the stakeholders has been brilliant and the collaboration is very real. There are so many fantastic skill sets that many involved bring to the table. I was very proud to see what we achieved last week with the launch of Episode 1. We put all this together in a very short amount of time and executed on it. | | | What should you expect as a listener of Inside The Ropes? To hear golf interviews, knowledge, stories and news on a platform that lends itself to the intimacy of audio consumption. A national show (approx. 40-50mins) will be produced weekly for 10 weeks with state bodies involved having their own state specific show, running approximately 10-20mins each week. We have a long-term vision for the show but have agreed to trial 10 weeks' worth of episodes first. What does having Andy Maher and the RSN 927 team add to the venture? Andy is such a professional and he absolutely loves golf! Andy is the main host with Mark Hayes (Media Manager at Golf Australia) scheduled to be a regular as well as Golf Victoria's own Jo Charlton and a number of other well renowned golf media personalities such as Mike Clayton, Alison Whitaker and Martin Blake. The RSN radio team have been a pleasure to work with. Adam White, a key driver in this initiative is very passionate about his golf and used to host a radio golf show many years ago where David Greenhill was a regular guest. Having the access to RSN's production staff and studio to record each episode is vital to the professionalism of the show. What gets covered on the show? The national show will cover a diverse range of golf topics and news. Whether it be a big story on the world stage, an Aussie performing well on tour, a compelling club golf story or opinions of some of the country's most respectable and interesting golf personalities, Inside The Ropes has it covered. From a Golf Victoria state show perspective, we'll deep dive into some of the biggest events, issues and programs whilst highlighting some interesting stories coming from Victorian clubs and Victorian golfers. How do listeners download it? And when is it available? To listen to the national show and/or the Golf Victoria show, you can access the show via this link http://www.golfvic.org.au/inside-the-ropes. A new episode will be uploaded every Thursday afternoon. To listen to just the national show, you also have the option of subscribing on iTunes http://apple.co/2rFfQG4 or through your favourite podcast app on iPhone or Android. Can traditional radio listeners listen to Inside The Ropes on RSN 927? 100% they can. This is another attractive aspect of the venture for Golf Victoria. RSN 927 wanted a regular golf show to air to its listeners and Inside The Ropes is now that show. The show will be played from 6-7am each Sunday morning on RSN 927, a perfect time to tune in for many golfers making their way to a Sunday morning round. The show aired on RSN 927 will be the national show plus the Victorian specific show.
