Note From the Editor

In several stories we published today about hotels, restaurants, meetings and solo female travelers, a customer experience theme is top of mind. In our Skift Backstage Podcast, the founders of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and also Design Hotels address the curated and design-focused needs of the new guest in boutique hotels. The wish lists aren't too different on the restaurant scene, where Resy's CEO discusses how technology can help nurture immersive dining experiences. On a B2B level, Atout France brought on an influencer to ratchet up the engagement and experiences of event planners.

Big brands, though, have mostly ignored the sometimes-wrenching experiences of solo female travelers. But, in a story today, we show how one of the smaller homesharing sites, Overnight, got creative in forming a partnership to engender trust and improve the experiences of women traveling on their own. We need to see more of that.
