Making a splash

• Digital hotel operations platform ALICE is making a big splash in the hospitality sector. Just last week it received $26 million in Series B funding from Expedia, the second investment the OTA giant has made in the company.

And today ALICE has started sending the money already with the acquisition - for an undisclosed sum - of concierge app GoConcierge. The acquisition brings around 1,000 new hotel clients to the ALICE roster, a list which already includes Two Roads Hospitality, Dream Hotel Group, Grupo Posadas, SIXTY Hotels, NYLO Hotels, and Leading Hotels of the World.

ALICE president Alex Shashou has an interesting family background in hospitality - his father Joe was one of the founders of the Malmaison/Hotel du Vin brand, and he has clearly got the same enthusiasm for the sector. Click here to read an interview with Shashou.

• The agenda for the 2018 Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit is now live. For next year's event we are making things a little more interactive, with some new sessions formats, and there will be a whole host of fresh faces in tears of speakers. We're in the process of confirming speakers from across the world, both from within in the industry and other sectors. It's going to be something special.
