| | | | An eye on the future
• Grifka Group is a name to keep an eye on in the US hotel development scene. The 30-year old company principal Leo Grifka, has started construction on his first project - The West End Hotel in Culver City, California. The project is a contemporary update and conversion of a derelict existing hotel property, which is scheduled to open in September 2018.
Grifka is a self-confessed "asset class agnostic", meaning all his projects are likely to be conversions - or adaptive reuse as it's known in the US. Resi, commercial or hotel, they are unlikely to be dull, and I look forward to watching the progress of both the company and the West End Hotel project.
• The agenda for the 2018 Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit is now live. For next year's event we are making things a little more interactive, with some new sessions formats, and there will be a whole host of fresh faces in tears of speakers. We're in the process of confirming speakers from across the world, both from within in the industry and other sectors. It's going to be something special.
