| | | | | Every day should be Earth day
• As we approach this weekend's Earth Day, it's telling that with a few exceptions, hotels aren't effectively using the occasion to highlight what they are doing to promote sustainability and reduce their impact on the environment.
The launch of the "Earth Day, Every Day" initiative by 1 Hotels is a good reminder that this an issue which isn't going to go away and needs constant attention. It would be great to hear from our readers about what your hotels are doing to reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment. Drop me a line at george@internationalhospitality.media to let me know and we can tell your story to the whole industry. There will be a round table workshop on sustainability at next month's Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit - don't miss the chance to join in at the session which will be led by led by Thomas Kendall, senior designer at Wayward, and Jan Hazelton, VP global business and real estate development, at Kerzner International.
• As we get closer to the Summit, I will be getting out and about to meet hotel owners and general managers to gauge the mood of the sector on various issues. If you'd like to set up an appointment to discuss industry developments and your hotel's latest news, please get in touch at george@internationalhospitality.media
