There was a a time, not all that long ago, when hotels, office space and private members clubs were all distinct and separate offerings. But the boundaries have been blurring for the last few years and we are witnessing a new breed of property offering elements of all three.
The Curtain in London's Shoreditch already has a members club, and has just opened a co-working space. Zoku in Amsterdam offers its 'Zoku Loft' guest rooms, along with co-working space and a membership scheme for locals. And the intriguing Kafnu brand in Asia also aims to offer all three services under one roof.
These are all urban properties looking to attract neighbourhood business as well as overnight guests, and I wouldn't bet against this trend gaining serious momentum. Hotels will become more than just places to stay but places to work, rest and play too.
