We are pleased to have partnered with Portermark in the last month. Portermark provide a qualified 'Beer Tech' who cleans all aspects of the venue's beer lines, taps and cool rooms, increasing the quality of beer and ensuring our customers are getting the highest quality beer just as the brewers intended. They are changing the industry by bringing stringent food-grade standards to the bar and we are pleased to now bring them on board so we too can deliver consistently high quality beer to our customers. We are in good company with Portermark servicing many of Australia's top hospitality venues.

Around the Club

The Club is forecasting an estimated annual profit of $62,000 for the 2016/17 financial year. The financial result is down on the previous years and has been mostly impacted from previous year in reduced net gaming ($82k), review and tidy up of asset register ($27k), change in accounting for low value assets and accruals for outstanding raffle vouchers ($27k) and above budget spending on removing trees identified as dead or dangerous ($22k).

The Board have recently adopted the Budget for 2017/18 which includes increases in fees from 1 July 2017 for competition fees ($15 to $16) and the 18 hole cart hire ($28 to $30). Annual fees for seven day members have increased from $925 to $965. Challenges considered in keeping the fee increases to a minimum have included anticipated trade impact from local competitors completing renovations, increased utility and insurance expenses, increased labour costs and own disruption to trade to some extent when clubhouse refurbishment works are undertaken. The competition fee increase is the first in 3 years and retains our fees to a favourable level to neighbouring golf clubs.

The Club has in place an annual Capital Expenditure budget and adaptable 5-7 year forward planning capital expenditure budgets. The short term future will see the Club re-invest back into the Clubhouse with some refurbishment of lounge, bar and function areas whilst continuing to finalise course improvement plans. In the coming year the cart path works on the course will continue, a toilet amenity will be added near the 13th tee / 12th green and machinery replacement for course maintenance will be made. The Board have also recently tendered for and approved the golf cart fleet changeover from EZ-GO who have provided a sound service over the previous 4 years to a Yamaha Cart fleet. The Club will purchase 9 and lease 18 Yamaha EFI Carts from August 2017.

The subscription renewal notices will be sent from the Office this week. If you have changed your address in recent times please make sure the Office is aware of your new address. Included with the subs notices for Men over 55 will be a $5 annual charge to enable membership of the Men's Vets and the option to play in the Tuesday competition amongst other benefits.

When using the chipping green members need to be mindful of limiting the length of their shots if the chipping green is in use by others at the same time. Every now and then players are hitting shots from almost near the practice nets onto the green whilst others are around the green causing risk of injury. Please take care not to put your fellow members at risk when using the area.

The Club recently paid into members account a loyalty reward to those members who have been in a playing category for 10,20 or 30 years plus. We hope you enjoy the little extra.

There has been a recent change to the Call Up on holes 7, 13 and 16. The signage in place now requires a compulsory call up once you have moved to a safe place.

Bonus TRIVIA
Our Wednesday Trivia night now features a bonus round based on the Scattergories format. The jackpot round costs an extra $1 and has five bonus questions, a letter is randomly drawn and the answer to those 5 questions needs to start with that letter drawn. The first sheet handed in that is correct will win a $20 voucher with consolation prizes also awarded.

Our new Operations Manager Tim Harris has commenced in his role and is available to discuss any function enquiries. The Club's Seaview Room is an ideal space for a birthday celebration or work function.

MiClub have recently added MiStats to each golfing members' portal. This allows you to record stats from each round you play like greens in regulation, putts, sand saves etc. MiStats is a simple and engaging statistics tool designed for golfers to track performance and is being rolled out for clubs who use MiScore or AutoScore scorecard scanning systems. Each member's round of competition play will be added to the statistics database once the competition has closed. Thursday Night Putting Competition - Host?

We are contemplating kicking off a Thursday evening $$$ cash putting competition and would like to know if a member would like to volunteer to host for a couple of hours each week. There may be an ale or two provided to an enthusiastic host. Please let reception know if you would like to commence a compere career :)
Note: Loosely the format will be $5 entry, $4 of entry fees to cash prize pool and $1 towards a jackpot putt at the end from top of putting green to bottom tier hole. Hoping for 50 or so in to give $100 1st, $60 2nd , $40 3rd.

Friday Nights @ Port Golf

Every Friday Night we have a range of promotions offering prizes to Members:

Friday Night Raffles - $1000 worth of Club and local business vouchers to be won with 45 draws between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. A strip of tickets are $5 or purchase $10 worth and receive $5 worth of tickets free.

Members Jackpot Badge Draw - Free to enter for all Members over 18 - Jackpotting prize with all financial members over 18 included in the draw. If your name is drawn and you are in the Club you have four minutes to claim your prize. Current Jackpot as at 16 May $5,300 Two draws take place, one between 6:30pm - 7:00pm and another between 8:30pm - 9:00pm.

Birthday Wheel Promotion - from 5:30pm members who play the gaming machines with their membership card inserted will have tickets automatically printed into the promotions barrell. Ten draws take place across the night (6:00pm - 9:00pm) with the Member drawn coming forward to spin the Birthday Wheel - if the wheel lands on their birthday they win the jackpot prize (Minimum $200 - Maximum $1000), if the wheel lands on a number not their birthday then a consolation prize voucher is won. For all Members present if the wheel lands on your birthday whether you are spinning or not you will win a $5 Bar Voucher.

LAST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH:

End of Month Foyer Draw - across the month members when entering the Club can scan their membership card at the Foyer Kiosk to receive tickets into the End of Month Foyer Draw. On the last Friday of the Month five names are drawn between 7:00pm & 8:30pm from this barrell to win either $300, $100 (2) or $50 (2) CASH. Members must be present to claim.

End of Month Gaming Draw - across the month members who have their card inserted received tickets into the gaming promotions barrell. On the last Friday five names are drawn between 7:00pm & 8:30pm from this barrell to win either a $300, $100 (2) or $50 (2) vouchers at the Club or local businesses. Members must be present to claim.
