• I'm please to welcome Jane Longhurst, CEO of the Meetings Industry Association, as a contributor to Boutique Hotel News. There is a common misperception that MICE activity is largely confined to large, and often drab, hotels but the reality is that boutique and lifestyle hotels have a lot to offer meetings organisers, particularly at the smaller end of the scale. Offering interesting and unique spaces, great F&B and personalised service is a great strength when attracting MICE clients, and I look forward to hearing Jane's views over the coming months about how hotels in our sector can boost their meetings business.
• The opening of the Hotel Indigo property in London's Leicester Square marks a significant milestone for IHG's boutique hotel brand. This property is an impressive flagship and in my opinion marks the brand's coming of age. Properties like this will attract owners of other properties of a similar stamp to consider the brand, ushering in a new level of luxury properties to the Hotel Indigo collection.
Henry Reeve, director of design and innovation for Hotel Indigo, will be speaking at the 2018 Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit later this month about how to make a hotel a hub of its local community. Click here to find out more and buy tickets for the event.
