Are You Ready For the WSOP?

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is well underway at the Rio All-Suite Hotel in Las Vegas. The WSOP began May 29th with the Casino Employees Event, and runs through mid-July, closing with the million dollar buy-in Big One for One Drop. Whether you are planning to lay down $10,000 to play the Main Event or simply play a $150 Daily Deep Stack, you will want to be at your best when you sit down at the table.

An important factor to tournament success is to be at the top of your game through practice.  One innovative way to tune up your game is using Advanced Poker Training (APT), an online poker training site.  APT is an invaluable tool for honing your tournament skills by allowing you to simulate many of the tricky situations that you may encounter at the WSOP, but without risking your bankroll.

APT offers a tournament trainer which allows you to choose the tournament size and blind structure that you would like to play. Whether you want to simulate the Main Event, with 6,600 people and two hour blinds, a Daily Deepstack turbo with 300 players and 20 minute blinds, or something in-between, APT offers the opportunity. With the ability to play over 500 hands per hour, you can get in some intensive practice in a short amount of time and tune up your game much more quickly that is usually possible. Additionally, APT’s retry button will allow you to re-play a tricky hand, trying out a different line, to see how your results vary.

An exciting new development at APT is the Combat Trainer. The Combat Trainer will prepare you for common tricky scenarios (such as raising with A-K and missing the flop), allowing you to play them over and over again in order to develop a sophisticated strategy for each situation. The Combat Trainer offers the ability to play 100 hands in a given scenario over about 20 minutes. This allows you to internalize a complex set of strategies in a very short time. There are even specific Combat Trainer scenarios which allow you to target practice for tournament trouble spots.

APT also offers you the ability to learn from the pros. You can glean tournament strategy from players like Scotty Nguyen, and WSOP Main Event champions Scott Blumstein and Qui Nguyen. In APT’s Beat the Pro series, you can play the same hands as the professional, see how your play compares, and then watch them talk through each hand, how they played it, and why. Blumstein and Qui Nguyen also offer a series of hand reviews from their own WSOP Main Event Final Table experiences, giving you a taste of what it’s like to play in the big game.

You want to be at your best for your WSOP experience. We contacted the folks at AdvancedPokerTraining.com and they agreed that all readers of Card Player can get a special discount to try it out. Check out AdvancedPokerTraining.com and use the offercode CPWSOP to get $10 off and see how you can take your game to new levels.
